About the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

CHEO's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) supports critically ill patients with acute, life-threatening disease and injuries. The PICU team delivers excellent patient care and is involved in research and fellowship training.

The PICU team is made up of medical and surgical specialists. They are experts in:

• trauma
• congenital heart disease
• cardiovascular surgery
• respiratory failure
• neurosurgery
• immunodeficiencies
• hematologic and oncologic emergencies
• sepsis
• multi-organ system dysfunction
